Cristina Velázquez is an interdisciplinary visual artist who reuses and transforms everyday obsolete objects into works of art, addressing feminist and ecological issues through the term Ecofeminism. Her displayed work is a series of anatomical heart drawings on fabric featuring electroluminescence lights, similar to LED, powered by AA battery packs. About the Artist: Cristina was born in Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacán, Mexico and immigrated to the U.S. in 1987.  Velázquez earned a Dual Degree MA/MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco and a BFA from San Jose State University.   Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at venues including; The Foundry Art Center, Missouri, Palo Alto Art Center, Palo Alto, Gallery nine5, New York, Art Ark Gallery, San Jose, Meridian Gallery, San Francisco, Euphrat Museum at De Anza College, Cupertino, Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts, San Francisco, and MACLA, San Jose.
