explore The wonders of Space When You Visit Nasa Ames

Situated at Moffett Field in the heart of Silicon Valley, NASA's Ames Research Center is one of ten NASA research locations around the country. Playing a key role in NASA missions and programs, Ames Research Center's projects include small satellites, robotic lunar exploration, advanced thermal protection, and airborne astronomy. Immerse yourself in the wonders of space engineering and travel at the visitor center, where you can learn how astronauts live and work in space. Interactive exhibits invite you to touch a real moon rock, see a Martian asteroid and view the historic Mercury Redstone 1A test capsule. Check out the theater for movies showing Mars and other planetary explorations and learn more about the important discoveries and contributions of NASA scientists.   • Does NASA Ames Research Center provide public tours?

    While the research center's main campus is closed to visitors, you can take a self-guided tour of the visitor center. You should plan to stay at least an hour to make the most of your stay. Groups of 10 or more can book a guided group tour by request. Group tours should be booked at least two weeks in advance of your planned visit date. Contact the Ames Center staff at for details. 
  • What public transportation will take me to NASA Ames Research Center?

    The most convenient way to get there is via Caltrain or VTA Light Rail. NASA Ames is located less than two miles from the train station and Light Rail stop in downtown Mountain View. The VTA Light Rail provides a convenient NASA/Bayshore stop at the research center's Ellis Street entrance. You can also take a VTA bus #51 from the De Anza College stop to the Moffett Field/Ames stop.
